Dr. Patricia Washington, MD

My journey into alternative medicine, specifically acupuncture and herbal remedies, began when I moved to Chicago and developed a painful breast condition that made it difficult to walk, sleep, exercise, or stand without intense pain. After trying acupuncture, my pain disappeared within 24 hours and never returned. This pain relief sparked my curiosity about why acupuncture worked when Western medicine couldn't without the use of pain medication, leading me to become passionate about helping others find relief through holistic methods.

I earned my Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the California Institute of Integral Studies and completed a residency in advanced acupuncture techniques in China. I also hold a Master's degree from the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine and have undertaken additional coursework at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago.

I am an adjunct professor in the Family Medicine Department at Morehouse School of Medicine, where I was honored with the Global Health Equity Award. My teaching focuses on educating medical students about alternative medicine and the appropriate use of non-drug treatments, particularly for conditions that can be effectively managed through holistic approaches.

Outside academia, I am actively involved in community outreach and medical missions. My most recent mission was in Sierra Leone, Africa, where I provided healthcare to underserved communities. Additionally, I have experience treating veterans as a Certified VA Provider, helping those who have served our country.
